Then on Saturday (Aug 7) We had an unreal turnout for park cleanup. A huge thank you to the over 20 hard working residents who showed up to help out. 2015
In the world of pop culture, 70s music was leaving its mark on America. Disco - arrived - and took the world - by storm.
Few can resist the temptation even today to get down and boogie when they hear the Village People’s YMCA or the Bee Gees playing Staying Alive.
Influenced by funk and soul, the mere mention of the big names in 70s disco - Bee Gees, KC and the Sunshine Band, ABBA, and Donna Summer - evoke fond memories of leisure suits, Studio 54, the Hustle and glimmering disco balls. And not to forget the movies like “Saturday Night Fever” which brought the style mainstream popularity.
So to all former Dancing Queens and Kings…It’s time to get the disco ball out.
And brush up on the 70s dances like the Hustle and Bump so you can really get down and get funky.
And the community of Kinookimaw has done just that!
With their own dance instructors (non other than Steve and Sandi Rootman), who love putting a bit of funk and soul into their dance steps. Kinookimaw has outdone themselves once again! Following in their footsteps are our Dancing Divas: Diane Armstrong, Teri Tramer, Sheryl Doig and Jacquie Bumphrey.
So sit back…pull up a bean bag on the shag rug, crank up the lava lamp and stick around!

2014
KINOOKIMAW KLAPPERS.......... It’s a throw back to the Flapper Days and The Roaring 20's AND Kinookimaw has done it up well! THINK : great jazz bands, feather boas, ostrich feathers and the most famous dances of that time… The Black Bottom and Lindy Hop!
One can’t forget the infamous Charleston and dancing their way into history with the Charleston are Sandi and Steve Rootman and a few ‘loose’ women… the Flappers!
It was the days of PROHIBITION, Speakeasies, bathtub gin and gangsters!Capone was a household name when it came to smuggling and bootlegging. And not to be forgotten, are our own local outlaws Bonnie & Clyde coming up behind the bar scene!
The Roaring 20's didn’t exist in Kinookimaw then, but today KINOOKIMAW KLAPPERS 2014 are BIG and there is always a garden party happening somewhere!!

2013
At it again, our theme this year was the 'Roaring 50's. Sandi and Steve Rootman took to the stage to show off their dancing skills. Teri Tramer took control of the hoola hoop and Cheryl Hanoski along with Jacquie Bumphrey (a.k.a. Laverne & Shirley) took to the streets in their pink cadillac!
