Kinookimaw Residents Association – Meeting Minutes May 20, 2026

Present:  President Dwayne Redekopp; Vice-President Daryl Lukan; Secretary Dawn Schmidt; Treasurer Rita Hanoski; Muir Barber; and Lorne Bumphrey. 

Regrets: Blaine Campbell; Leila Blish and Craig Matt.

Call to Order at 7:00 pm.

1.      Adoption of Agenda:

                        M:              THAT the Agenda be approved as previously circulated.

2.      Approval of Minutes:

M:             THAT the minutes of the April 7, 2026 meeting be approved as circulated.

3.      Business Arising from Minutes

BBQ and Concert

Dawn drafted the poster and was reviewed by the Committee. The poster will be sent out on June 1 asking for a response to the KRA email with the deadline of June 25th. Dawn to confirm with Craig that he will keep track of attendance for the event from the email responses.

The Committee may have to host the concert in the park depending on availability of the current location.

Trail Clean-up

The trail clean-up went well with about 12 community members and committee members in attendance.

4.      Lease Sub-Committee Report

The Sub-Committee is continuing to reach out to KBA, ISC, and Federal Government representatives to discuss the sub-lease.

5.      Financial Report:

Rita presented the financial information and indicated that the current account balance is $3,478.83. 

Rita to reach out to Craig, Scott Siemens and Jacquie Bumphrey about the cost of the website.

6.      KBA Manager Report

Lorne indicated that there is no further update on Water or Roads:

•      Water supply has not been settled yet.

•      Water meters installation quotes are being gathered.

•      Roads are ongoing and will be graded when weather permits.

•      Tenders are going out for graveling or potentially reclaimed asphalt for roads in the community.

A water schedule will be sent out similar to last year.

7.      Bylaw Compliance Report

No formal reports submitted to the committee.

8.      New Business:

Trail Benches

The question came up about who maintains the benches along the trail. Some of the benches are in poor condition and need maintenance. It is the responsibility of the family of the person that it was donated for.

Emails

An inquiry from a community member on having a senders name at the bottom of the KRA emails. They want a name associated with the email so that they know who it is coming from. 

Moving forward depending on the topic, a name will be included at the bottom of the email.

9.      Next meeting date

Next regular meeting will be held on June 17, 2026 at 7:00 at Daryl’s house.
